What if feeling depressed in an abusive world was a first inkling of your true self?

What if in suppressing a natural thought so that you could feel better, you repressed yourself?

Our social structure rewards us for how we think and what we do but gives little if any support for knowing who and what we are.  Most of us live our lives without ourselves, motivated by achievement, social position and survival – having low esteem for our own personal value.

the self book

Hoefer’s new book, theself, supports readers in their unique exploration of inner space.  There is profound wisdom and beauty within each of us.  Knowing our own personal value comes from allowing this beauty to manifest.  This beauty manifests as we allow the truth of who and what we are now.  When I see how I have been unkind, kindness and understanding arise without trying.

This beauty cannot be defined, rather it defines us.  We cannot do anything to create it – there is no way of knowing ahead of time what to create – everything we do to become what we want shatters our experience of this arising self.
